Date of News Release: 09/18/2014
(FRANKFORT, Ky.) – The Kentucky State Police released a KSP-TV video segment focusing on their Legislative Security Branch. This YouTube video explores the historic Kentucky State Capitol and the role of the troopers who are assigned to protecting it.
"During the Legislative Session, selected troopers are assigned to the KSP Legislative Branch," says KSP spokesman Sgt. Michael Webb. "The selection process for this detail requires an individual who has shown professionalism and commitment in their daily duties as a trooper. We are placing our best troopers on this very public stage in what can be a politically-charged arena."
Senator Jimmy Higdon participated in the video and says having troopers on the Legislative Detail has had a positive effect on all who visit the historic site.
"There have not been any problems over the years and I contribute that to the presence of Kentucky State Police Troopers," says Higdon. "Their professional demeanor is very low-key and they interact very well with the legislators, the staff and the constituents who visit here."
