Injury Collision on I-24 in Lyon County

(Hickory, KY) - Mr. Richard Wilson was operating a support vehicle for the striping operation taking place on Interstate 24. Mr. John Helman yielded for the rear vehicle in the operation and after passing that vehicle he immediately went back into the right hand lane and struck the rear of the pick up operated by Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson came to final rest on the shoulder of the interstate and Mr. Helman left the roadway and overturned coming to final rest on the side of the roadway. Mr. Wilson was transported to Caldwell County Hospital for neck and back pain. Mr. Helman was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. For multiple injuries. Trooper Wright was assisted at the scene by other KSP units, KVE, Lyon County Rescue, Eddyville Fire, Lyon County EMS and PHI Air Medical.
