Fatal Collision on State Route 641 in Calloway County

(Hickory, KY) - Mr. James E. Stephenson was Southbound on State Route 641 operating a fully loaded metal scrap hauler when he failed to observe slower moving traffic ahead of him. He attempted to avoid the traffic by moving around it, into the Northbound lane of traffic. He drove into the path of Mr. Clarence N. Fletcher. Mr Fletcher attempted to avoid the truck by steering off the roadway but the vehicles hit head on. Mr. Fletcher was pronounced dead at the scene. Tpr 1st Class Anderson was assisted at the scene by Calloway County Sheriffs Office, Calloway County Fire & Rescue, Murray Fire Department, Calloway County DES, and Murray-Calloway County EMS. Investigation continues by Trooper First class Chris Anderson.
