Injury Collision on US 45 in Graves County
Date of News Release: 08/05/2008
(Mayfield, KY) - On Tuesday, August 5, 2008 Kentucky State Police responded to a report of an injury accident on US 45 one mile north of Wingo. Upon investigation it was determined Mr. Kenny M. Armstrong was operating a 1978 Ford pick up with a small trailer in tow northbound on US 45. Mr. Armstrong had two inmates from the Restricted Custody Center assisting him at the time of the collision. Mr. Thomas Gamble was operating a 2007 Mack dump truck also northbound on US 45. Mr. Armstrong had slowed in the road to make a turn, but had no turn signals on the trailer in tow, and that trailer blocked the signals on his truck. Mr. Gamble was in a passing zone and pulled into the southbound lane to overtake Mr. Armstrong who failed to see Mr. Gamble and pulled into his path. Mr. Gamble was unable to stop and struck Armstrong's vehicle. Both passengers in Mr. Armstrong's vehicle, Riley Scott, and Dustin Oyer, were transported by EMS to Jackson Purchase with possible injuries. No other injuries were reported. State Police had one lane of US 45 closed for approximately 45 minutes during clean up. Trooper Thomas Clifton was assisted on scene by Trooper Joe Gregory and EMS.
