Robards Man Arrested on Wanton Endangerment Charges

Henderson, KY - Troopers responded to a domestic dispute that lead to shots being fired at a residence near Robards, Ky. The caller had stated through Henderson County dispatch that her husband, Jeffery L. Morton, 49, had fired a 9mm pistol at her in close proximity outside of their residence after a verbal alteration. When Troopers arrived on scene, the victim was found unharmed, hiding in a wooded area nearby. She stated that her husband fired one shot at her feet at approximately 3 yards away. As the victim fled from the gunfire, she stated that she had heard several other shots being discharged from the weapon in an unknown direction. Kentucky State Police Troopers made contact with Morton at the residence. Morton told troopers that he had fired a shot at the ground towards the victim's feet after a verbal altercation. Morton believed that he had fired several rounds from his 9mm pistol into the ground outside of his residence as the victim fled on foot. Morton was charged with Wanton Endangerment - 1st Degree.
