Hancock County Man Arrested After Brief Vehicle and Foot Pursuit

Stanley, KY (Daviess County) - Kentucky State Police Sergeant Mitch Hampton arrested a Reynolds Station man on numerous charges after a pursuit on US 60 West of Owensboro.
On Monday, November 3, 2014, at approximately 7:41 p.m., Sergeant Mitch Hampton attempted to stop a 2007 Ford Convertible Mustang on US 60 for reckless driving. The operator failed to yield to Sergeant Hampton's emergency equipment and fled westbound on US60, heading towards Henderson. In response to the pursuit, Kentucky State Police troopers in the 11000 block of Spotsville deployed the Stinger tire deflation system to the fleeing vehicle. Once the vehicle was disabled, the operator and passenger abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The passenger was quickly apprehended; however, the operator did flee the scene and stayed hidden in the surrounding area. An Owensboro Police Department canine unit responded to the scene where the canine was able to locate the operator.
The operator, identified as John Stephen McDowell, age 37 of Reynolds Station, KY. McDowell has not been lodged yet but expected charges are but not limited to:
- Reckless Driving
- Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree - Motor Vehicle
- Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree - On Foot
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The passenger, identified as Charley I Aldridge, age 33 of Hartford, KY. She too has not been lodged yet; however, charges of Receiving Stolen Property and Fleeing and Evading Police are likely.
Additional charges are likely on both Aldridge and McDowell.
During the pursuit, it was revealed that the fleeing vehicle was reported stolen from Roberts Brothers Auto Mart in Owensboro.
KSP troopers were assisted by Owensboro Police Department and Henderson County Sheriff's Department.
