Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Arlington, KY

(Arlington, KY) - On Friday, August 1, 2014, at 10:30pm, Kentucky State Troopers conducted a traffic safety check point on US 51 at the Carlisle/Hickman County line. While conducting the check point, Trooper Logan Smith came in contact with 18 year old Brian M. Kliethermes of Freeburg, Missouri who was operating a 2008 Toyota Tacoma.
During initial contact, Trooper Smith noticed what appeared to be marijuana on the shirt and lap of Mr. Kliethermes. After further search of Mr. Kliethermes and the vehicle, troopers seized a small plastic bag containing cocaine, additional marijuana, a 9 mm rifle, and over $2300 cash.
Mr. Kliethermes was placed under arrest and charged with DUI 1st offense (Class B Misdemeanor), trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense - cocaine (Class D Felony), trafficking in marijuana, less than 8oz, 1st offense (Class A Misdemeanor), drug paraphernalia - buy/possess (Class A Misdemeanor), possession controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense - cocaine (Class D Felony), possession of marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor), and failure to wear seatbelt (Violation). Mr. Kliethermes was lodged in the Ballard County Detention Center. A 17 year old juvenile passenger, from Westphalia, MO, was also taken into custody and lodged in the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center. She was charged with trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense, trafficking in marijuana less than 8 oz, 1st offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
