Two-Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 600

Weir, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 600, approximately two miles south of Weir, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 12:06 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Cary Daugherty, 33, of Greenville, KY, was operating a 2007 GMC Sierra westbound on KY 600. Elizabeth Groves, 40, of South Carrollton, KY, was operating a 2006 Chrysler Sebring eastbound on KY 600. As Mr. Daugherty negotiated a hill and curve on the roadway, his vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane where it struck Ms. Groves' vehicle head-on.

Ms. Groves was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. Mr. Daugherty was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper Jerrod Hearld investigated the collision. Trooper Craig Engler, the Greenville Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
