Single-Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 70

Central City, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 70, approximately eight miles west of Central City, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 10:19 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Donna Varble, 49, of Owensboro, KY, was operating a 2003 Ford Explorer westbound on KY 70 when she lost control of the vehicle. It exited the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle came to rest upright in the ditch.

Ms. Varble and two of her passengers, Brenda Nugent, 67, of Owensboro, KY, and Cheyenne Varble (step-daughter), 14, were transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. A third passenger, Shaun Dickson (male), 18, of Louisville, KY, was not injured. Cheyenne was not wearing a seatbelt. The other three occupants were.

Trooper Craig Engler investigated the collision. Trooper Jerrod Hearld, the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
