Single-Vehicle DUI Injury Collision on US 62 East

Central City, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 62 East, on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 11:45 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Michael Stogner of Rockport, KY, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on US 62 when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve. Mr. Stogner's vehicle crossed the centerline and exited the left side of the roadway, where it then struck a tree.

Mr. Stogner was transported via ambulance to Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Mr. Stogner was wearing a seatbelt. There were no passengers involved. Mr. Stogner was charged with Speeding 26 mph or greater, Reckless Driving, Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol- 3rd offense, Driving on a DUI Suspended License, and Failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance.

Trooper Jacob Fortney investigated the collision. The Central City Police Department, Central City Fired Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
