Two-Vehicle Injury Collision on the Pennyrile Parkway

Slaughters, KY (Webster County) - On Friday, June 6, 2014, at 2:55 p.m., the Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, between the 57 mile marker and 56 mile marker.

The preliminary investigation revealed that John Dodson, 64, of Owensboro, KY, was operating a Ford Edge southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. Due to a medical condition, Mr. Dodson lost consciousness while operating the vehicle. The vehicle exited the roadway into the median. Mr. Dodson regained consciousness, overcorrected the vehicle, and re-entered the southbound lane, striking a Freightliner tractor and trailer operated by Thomas East, 57, of Sumner, MI. Mr. East's vehicle struck a guard rail and exited the roadway, overturning onto its side.

Mr. Dodson and Mr. East were transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. Both subjects were wearing a seatbelt. There were no other passengers involved.
