Single-Vehicle Injury Collision on Pennyrile Parkway

Hanson, KY (Hopkins County) - On Sunday, June 8, 2014 Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle injury collision on the Pennyrile Parkway at the 53 mile marker. Michael Pollard, 61 of Florence KY, was operating a 1991 Chevrolet Van southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway. For unknown reasons Mr. Pollard's vehicle exited the left hand shoulder of the roadway and entered the median. Mr. Pollard's vehicle then re-entered the roadway crossing both southbound lanes and exiting the right hand shoulder. Mr. Pollard's vehicle then overturned several times coming to final rest upright facing southeast. Mr. Pollard was wearing a seatbelt and was flown from the scene to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville for treatment to injuries sustained in the collision. Sergeant Nick Rice investigated the collision and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Nathan Craft, Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Hanson Fire Rescue, Med Center Ambulance, and PHI Air Medical.
