Single Vehicle Injury Collision On KY 1033 Involving DUI

Hanson, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on KY 1033 (Vandetta Road), approximately five miles north of Hanson, on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 7:43 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Michael R. Steele, 32, of Hanson, KY, was operating a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice northbound on KY 1033 when his vehicle crossed both lanes of travel and exited the left side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled along a fence and struck a tree before coming to rest. It came to rest against the tree off the roadway.

Mr. Steele, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. There were no passengers involved.

Trooper First Class John Komar investigated the collision and charged Mr. Steele with DUI 1st Offense. Mr. Steele was cited to court due to his injuries.
