Execution of Search Warrant Leads to Felony Drug Arrest & Recovery of Stolen Firearms

Madisonville, KY. (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police arrested a Madisonville man on drug and firearm related charges.
On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Trooper Bob Winters, Sergeant Tim Sales, and Detective Carlo Anderson executed a search warrant at the Red Cardinal Inn in Madisonville.
Upon executing the search warrant, officers located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the room in which the accused, Derek L. Harr, 33, of Madisonville, KY, resides. Officers also located a stolen handgun on Red Cardinal Inn property. Three additional firearms were recovered from a different location. All of the guns recovered were stolen during a burglary earlier in the day from a Wesco Drive residence. Mr. Harr was arrested without incident.
Trooper Winters charged Mr. Harr with the following offenses:
- Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense - Meth
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Burglary 1st Degree
He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
