Single Vehicle Injury Collision on I-69

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle, injury collision that occurred on I-69, between the 103 mile marker and 104 mile marker, on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 2:38 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Amanda Barnes, 33 of Nortonville KY, was operating, a gold Chevrolet Blazer, traveling southbound on I-69. Due to an unknown mechanical issue Mrs. Barnes lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle began to slide, sideways across the left lane and entered the median. Upon entering the median the vehicle overturned several times coming to final rest on the driver's side facing north.
Amanda Barnes sustained possible injuries to her shoulder/back area. The passenger, Avery Barnes, 39 of Nortonville KY, sustained possible injuries to his neck. Both parties were wearing seatbelts and were transported by ambulance to the Baptist Health Emergency Room and treated for their injuries.
Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision. Lt. Jason Newby, Sgt, Derek Smith, Hopkins County Sheriff Deputy Health Owens, the South Hopkins Fire Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
