Two Vehicle Injury Collision On US 41-A

Madisonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 41-A on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 5:43 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Melena Lamb, 52, of Madisonville was operating a Chrysler Lebaron southbound on US 41-A. Douglas Watts, 51, of Manitou, was operating a Chevrolet pickup truck attempting to exit the Wicks Well parking lot.
Mr. Watts failed to see Ms. Lamb's vehicle approaching and made a left turn from the parking lot into Ms. Lamb's path of travel. The vehicles struck head-on in the southbound lane.
Mr. Watts was transported by a private vehicle to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment. Ms. Lamb had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville, then flown to St. Mary's in Evansville, IN for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Trooper Cody Kromer investigated the collision. The Madisonville Fire Department, the Manitou Volunteer Fire Department, and Medical Center Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
