Logan County Deputy Sheriff Injured in a Collision on US 431

(Bowling Green, KY) - On Monday, December 8, 2014, Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to US 431 in Logan County regarding a injury collision. According to Trooper Brett Coomes, Logan County Deputy Sheriff Brandon Harvey (23) of Greenville, KY was traveling north on US 431 near the intersection of Peach Blossom Road. Just after a the intersection a FedEx van was stopped in the road in order to turn into a residence. The van was stopped due to oncoming traffic. Deputy Harvey didn't notice the van stopped and he attempted to brake to avoid striking the rear of the FedEx Van. Deputy Harvey steered in the southbound lane and struck a vehicle head on that was being operated by Darrell Boatwright (72) of Dunmor, KY.
Mr. Boatwright was taken via helicopter to the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Deputy Harvey was transported by Logan County EMS to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
The investigation is still on going and is being led by Trooper Brett Coomes.
