CVE Officer Involved In Louisville Chase, Shooting

(LOUISVILLE, KY.) - Officers with the Louisville Metro Police Dept and Ky. State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement were involved in a vehicle chase that ended in the suspect being shot and injured. On Sunday, December 28 2014, at approximately 3:00 P.M. EST Louisville Metro P.D. alerted surrounding Law Enforcement agencies of an attempted murder incident with shots fired involving a Louisville resident and provided a vehicle description for the suspect. Louisville Metro Officers located the vehicle shortly after the incident and attempted to stop the vehicle when a chase ensued. Officer Jared Newberry, and Sgt. Scott Koch, with Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, joined the chase with Metro Officers and were able to get the vehicle stopped on the Watterson Expressway on ramp from Newburgh Rd. Upon contact with the suspect, Alicia Scott (23), the suspect brandished a firearm. CVE Sgt. Scott Koch then fired at and wounded the suspect. She was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital where she is listed in serious but stable condition. Ms. Scott has been charged with Fleeing and Evading 1st Degree-Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Wanton Endangerment 1st, and Attempted Murder (Police Officer). The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
