KSP Makes Drug Arrests Following Traffic Stop

(Mayfield, Ky.) - On Friday, February 06, 2015, Trooper First Class Brad Ramsey and his Canine Oscar stopped a vehicle at the intersection of 13th and Sycamore Streets in Murray, for a seatbelt violation. The vehicle was being operated by Jeffrey Hodges and had one passenger, Kim Kingins. Shortly after initiating the stop, Trooper Adam Jones and Senior Trooper Jody Cash arrived to assist. Senior Trooper Brad Ramsey deployed his Canine Oscar for a free air sniff around the vehicle. Canine Oscar alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle and its occupants, a pipe containing methamphetamine residue and a concealed container of approximately 6.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine was located. During a search of the residence shared by Mr. Hodges and Mr. Kingins, approximately 4 ounces of marijuana, additional methamphetamine, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia were located. Mr. Hodges and Mr. Kingins were arrested and both were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the Calloway County Jail. The investigation continues by Trooper Adam Jones.
