Non-Injury Collision On WKP Closes Roadway For Several Hours
Date of News Release: 01/07/2015
Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, non-injury collision that occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 40 mile-marker, on Tuesday, January 6, at 11:16 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Kenneth W. Sellers, 33, of Madisonville, was operating a 2015 International tractor-trailer eastbound on the parkway. He was hauling metal racks.
As he was traveling eastbound, Mr. Sellers glanced away for a moment. The passenger side tires dropped off the roadway, which caused him to lose control. The tractor-trailer traveled down a small, earthen embankment and overturned on its passenger side. Mr. Sellers, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
The roadway was intermittently closed until approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning.
Trooper Jonathan Murphy investigated the collision. Sergeant Derek Smith, Trooper Joe Bartolotti, and Trooper Jonathon Ward assisted at the scene.
