Felony Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

Madisonville, KY. (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police arrested a Madisonville resident on drug trafficking charges.

On Saturday, January 31, 2015, the Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic safety check point in an attempt to locate impaired drivers on the roadway. At approximately 10:00 p.m. troopers observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on McLeod Ave. After observing the traffic safety check point the operator, later identified as Owen W. Gamblin of Madisonville, made an abrupt stop and then a right turn onto Jewell St., failing to use his turn signal. Troopers located the vehicle turning around in a driveway and traveling back in the same direction it entered. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle.

During the traffic stop investigation, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and items consistent with drug trafficking were located.

The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Amber Burns of Louisville. Ms. Burns had an outstanding Jefferson County Bench warrant.

Trooper Murphy charged Owen Gamblin with the following offenses:

  1. Failure to or Improper Signal
  2. Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Greater then or Equal to 2 grams) (Methamphetamine)
  3. Possession of Marijuana
  4. Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess

Trooper Browning charged Amber Burns with the Following Offense:

  1. Execution of Bench Warrant

Mr. Gamblin and Ms. Burns were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
