Two Vehicle Injury Collision at KY 181 & WKP Ramp

Greenville, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred at KY 181 and the eastbound entrance ramp to the WKP (Western KY Parkway), approximately two miles north of Greenville, on Thursday, February 12, at 9:03 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Alicia Hanson, 50, of Greenville, was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo southbound on KY 181. Sarah Brewer, 29, of Morehead, KY, was operating a 2005 Nissan Altima. Mrs. Brewer had exited the WKP and was attempting to make a "u-turn" onto the eastbound entrance ramp. Mrs. Brewer turned into the path of Ms. Hanson and the two vehicles collided. Mrs. Brewer's vehicle came to rest in a ditch off the southbound shoulder of the roadway. Ms. Hanson's vehicle came to rest on the concrete median of the eastbound ramp.

Ms. Hanson and her passenger, Richard Dearmond, 53, of Bremen, were transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Mrs. Brewer, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Her passenger (husband), Garrett Brewer, 27, was transported via ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment. It is not known if Mr. Brewer was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld investigated the collision. Trooper First Class Craig Engler, the Greenville Police Department, the Greenville Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and Muhlenberg County Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
