Injury Collision Involving School Bus On KY 109

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision involving a school bus that occurred on KY 109, near the intersection of KY 1348, on Tuesday, March 10, at 6:30 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Christa Buckner, 47, of Hopkinsville, was operating a 2007 Freightliner school bus northbound on KY 109 when the vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway. It appears that Ms. Buckner overcorrected. The bus crossed the southbound lane and exited the roadway. The bus struck a tree before coming to rest off the roadway.
There were five students on the bus. An 18-year-old, female student, who was complaining of leg pain, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Trooper First Class Jim McArthur investigated the collision. The Christian County Sheriff’s Department and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
