Single Vehicle Injury Collision On Pennyrile Parkway

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the 14 mile-marker, on Sunday, March 15, at 3:55 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Cathy Brooks, 36, of Louisville, KY, was operating a 2004 Honda Accord northbound on the parkway when her vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle traveled across both northbound lanes and entered the median. It continued through the median and traveled across the southbound lanes. The vehicle struck another guardrail off the shoulder of the southbound lanes and came to rest in the southbound lanes, facing north.
Ms. Brooks, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.
Trooper Luis Palmer investigated the collision. Lt. Jason Newby, the Christian County Sheriff's Department and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
