Fatal Collision On WKP Involving Pedestrian

Graham, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal collision, involving a vehicle versus pedestrian, that occurred on the Wendell H. Ford Western Kentucky Parkway, at approximately the 45 mile-marker, on Monday, March 16, at 9:35 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that James F. Hamilton, 28, of Hartford, KY, was operating a 2001 Ford Focus eastbound on the parkway when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in the right lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Muhlenberg County Deputy Coroner Ricky King.

At the present time, the identity of the victim is not known. The victim was transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville.

Both eastbound lanes were closed until approximately 1:58 a.m. this morning. All lanes are open now.

Tpr. Luis Palmer is investigating the collision. Sgt. Brian Duvall, Sgt. Nick Rice, Tpr. Jacob Fortney, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, the Powderly Police Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, the Muhlenberg County Coroner’s Office, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
