KSP Investigating Fatal Fire in Princeton

Princeton, KY (Caldwell County) - The Kentucky State Police is currently investigating a fire that resulted in a fatality.
On Friday, March 27, at 11:04 p.m., KSP Post 2 received a call from the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department requesting assistance with a fire investigation. At 10:35 p.m., the Sheriff's Department had received a call of a travel-trailer fire on Bright Hill Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Brandon Hayes, 28, Princeton, and his three children Eric, 8, Dorian, 4, and Marley, 2, were sleeping in a travel-trailer when the fire started. After the fire was extinguished, Marley was located inside the trailer deceased. Eric was flown to Vanderbilt for treatment. Mr. Hayes was transported to the Caldwell Medical Center where he was treated and released. Dorian was not injured.
At the present time, the cause of the fire is under investigation. However, it is not suspicious in nature and foul play is not suspected.
KSP Investigator Scott Steward is continuing the investigation. Sergeant Nick Rice, Sergeant Derek Smith, Detective Matt Foster, Detective Billy Sumner, Trooper Jonathan Murphy, the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department, the Princeton Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Caldwell County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
