Two Vehicle Injury Collision on the Pennyrile Parkway

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the 8 mile-marker, on Thursday, April 2, at 3:50 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Charlette Wilford, 45, Hopkinsville, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on the parkway when she lost control of the vehicle on the wet road. It slid off the roadway and traveled into the median where it struck a concrete drain. The vehicle continued into the southbound lanes where it collided with a 2014 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by Roy Wells, 51, Cadiz, which was traveling southbound. The tractor-trailer was hauling tire rims. Ms. Wilford's vehicle came to rest in the median. Mr. Wells was able to pull his vehicle off the roadway.

Ms. Wilford, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. She was later transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt. Mr. Wells, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. There were no passengers involved.

Tpr. Luis Palmer investigated the collision. Lt. Jason Newby, Tpr. Jonathan Johnson, the Christian County Sheriff's Department, and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
