Two Vehicle Injury Collision on I-24

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two vehicle, injury collision that occurred on Interstate 24, at approximately the 81 mile-marker, on Sunday, May 31, at 10:10 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Rhonda Montgomery, 41, Lakewood, WA, was operating a 2014 Honda CRV eastbound on I-24 in the left lane. Richard Ritter, 56, Manhattan, KS, was operating a 2008 GMC Acadia eastbound on I-24 in the right lane. As Mr. Ritter initiated a lane change, Mrs. Montgomery's vehicle struck the rear of his vehicle.
Mr. Ritter, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Mrs. Montgomery's husband, Christopher, 42, was transported via ambulance to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN for treatment. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Mrs. Montgomery and their daughter, Cadence, 9, were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
Trooper Luis Palmer investigated the collision. The Christian County Sheriff's Department and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
