Two Vehicle Injury Collision on US 431 Involving DUI

Dunmor, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 431, in the limits of Dunmor, on Monday, July 13, at 3:36 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Sheila Garrett, 41, Dunmor, was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on US 431. Elizabeth Inman, 56, Lewisburg, was operating a 2003 Buick LaSabre southbound on US 431.

As Ms. Garrett was traveling northbound, she lost control of her vehicle. It crossed the southbound lane of travel and exited the roadway. The vehicle struck an earth embankment and came back onto the roadway where it struck Ms. Inman's vehicle head-on in the southbound lane.

Ms. Inman was not injured. Ms. Garrett was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper First Class Craig Engler investigated the collision and charged Ms. Garrett with DUI 1st Offense and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Expired License. Ms. Garrett was cited to court due to her injuries.

Trooper Jacob Fortney, the Dunmor Volunteer Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
