Death Investigation in Apex Community of Christian County

(Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police is currently investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a White Plains man.
On Wednesday, July 15, at approximately 10:26 p.m., the KSP Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the Christian County Sheriff's Department in reference to a shooting that occurred at a residence located in the 300 block of Apex Orange Grove Road in White Plains (the address is a White Plains address, but is physically located in Christian County).
On July 15, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Donnie L. Mannahan, 54, White Plains, KY, arrived at his neighbor's, Donald R. Bourland, 43, White Plains, KY, residence on Apex Orange Grove Road. Mr. Mannahan began pounding on the front door and cursing. He threatened to kill everyone inside the residence and threatened to set the residence on fire.
Mr. Bourland instructed Mr. Mannahan to leave his property and not enter his home. Mr. Mannahan then broke through the front door and entered the home. At this time, Mr. Bourland fired one round from a pistol he had retrieved, striking Mr. Mannahan in the chest.
Mr. Mannahan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Christian County Coroner's Office. An autopsy is scheduled for today at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville.
KSP Detective Lloyd Ray is continuing the investigation. KSP Sergeants Nick Rice and Jeff Ayres, KSP Detectives Lonnie Kavanaugh and Scott Smith, KSP Troopers Jonathan McGehee and Billy Over, the Christian County Sheriff's Department, the Lacy Volunteer Fire Department, Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS, and the Christian County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
