Two-Vehicle Injury Collision Interstate 24

Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on Interstate 24, at approximately the 86 mile-marker, on Tuesday, August 4, at 11:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Shanise Phillips, 23, Clarksville, TN, was operating a 2013 Nissan Versa westbound on I-24 in the left lane. Jason Campbell, 44, Nashville, TN, was operating a 2004 Cadillac Deville westbound on I-24 in the right lane.

Ms. Phillips crossed over into the right lane and her vehicle collided into Mr. Campbell's, causing both operators to lose control. Both vehicles exited the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Ms. Phillips and her passenger, Darrell Starks, 31, Madisonville, KY, were transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.

Mr. Campbell was not injured. One of his passengers, Joshua Johnson, 38, Brentwood, TN, was flown by Air Evac to Tristar Skyline Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. His other passenger, Nicole Cummins, 34, Clarksville, TN, was not injured.

Ms. Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt. All the other occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Sean Wint investigated the collision. Sergeant Tim Sales, Sergeant Jeff Ayres, Trooper Billy Over and Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
