KSP Conducting Death Investigation in Hopkins County

Mortons Gap, KY (Hopkins County) - The Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of a Morganfield man.
On Tuesday, November 10, at approximately 1:18 p.m., units from the Kentucky State Police Post 2-Madisonville responded to a complaint of a subject pinned beneath a mobile home on Tirey Lane in Mortons Gap. The subject, James L. Roberts, 63, Morganfield, KY, was transported via ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville where he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Roberts was partially underneath the mobile home and was in the process of setting a pier of blocks to stabilize the mobile home when it fell on him.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, November 11, at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville.
KSP Detective Lonnie Kavanaugh is continuing the investigation. The Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Medical Center Ambulance Service, and the Hopkins County Coroner's Office assisted.
