Stolen Firearm Recovered, Two Arrested

(Cave City, KY) - On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at approx. 8:24 pm a traffic stop was made on a 2004 Chevrolet for a traffic violation at the intersection of US 31-W and KY 70 in the limits of Cave City, which was being operated by Bonnie Russell (27) of Cave City, KY. The passenger of the vehicle, Eric Stockton (34) of Cave City, was found to be entered as wanted and was arrested on a bench warrant.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of suspected marijuana in the ashtray and a loaded Glock 23 handgun under the driver's seat. Upon further investigation, the firearm was entered as stolen from a local business in Cave City.
Bonnie Russell was arrested and charged with Rear License Plate Not Illuminated, Possession of Marijuana, Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon, and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm) and was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center, where she was further searched and was found to be in possession of more marijuana, where she was additionally charged with Promoting Contraband 1st.
Eric Stockton was also charged in addition to the bench warrant with Possession of Firearm By A Convicted Felon and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), where he was also lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
The investigation is still ongoing and is being led by Trooper David Hall.
