Pursuit Ends In Collision And Arrest

(Munfordville, KY) - On 03/21/2015 at approximately 07:26 AM, Trooper Ronnie Reynolds attempted to stop a Red Chevrolet Trailblazer for a traffic violation on Wilson Road in Barren County. The vehicle failed to yield when Trooper Reynolds activated his blue lights and siren. The suspect vehicle traveled through the limits of Cave City before entering I-65 northbound at the 53 mile marker continuing northbound before exiting the interstate at Horse Cave.
Trooper Reynolds continued his pursuit until he lost sight of the vehicle on Rowletts Cave Springs Road near the intersection of L.C. Mansfield Road in Hart County.
At 07:42 AM, Trooper Justin Rountree observed the suspect vehicle traveling north on Davis Williams Road and attempted to stop him. Upon turning on Poteet Road, the suspect vehicle collided with a rock embankment and came to final rest in the road. The vehicle's operator fled from the scene and was pursued on foot by Trooper Rountree where he was apprehended and arrested.
The operator was identified as James Martin (24) of Munfordville and lodged in the Hart County Jail. Martin was charged with speeding 26 mph > speed limit, failure to wear seat belt, reckless driving, operating on suspended operators license, disregarding stop sign, improper signal, operating motor vehicle under influence alcohol 1st offense, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, improperly on left side of the roadway, fleeing or evading police 1st degree, wanton endangerment 1st degree, following another vehicle too closely, leaving scene of an accident.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper First Class Ronnie Reynolds. KSP was also assisted by Munfordville PD Officer Ryan Riggs, Horse Cave PD Officer James Roberts, and Hart County Constable Terry Riley.
