Two Vehicle Injury Collision on Interstate 65

(Smiths Grove, KY) - On Monday, May 16, 2015 at approx 11:15 am the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a call of a two vehicle injury collision at the 39 mile marker on Interstate 65.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Zackery Spears (17) of Glasgow, KY was operating a 2007 Dodge Calibre and was traveling southbound in the middle lane of Interstate 65 when his vehicle hydroplaned during a heavy rainfall and skidded into the left lane where it was struck by a 2012 Dodge Ram pulling a horse trailer being operated by Jerrod Treangen (39) of Green Bay, WI. Spears' vehicle then struck the barrier wall and came to final rest in the outside emergency lane. Treangen's vehicle came to a controlled stop in the inside emergency lane.
Spears and Treangen, along with a passenger in Spears' vehicle, Noah Byrd (16) of Glasgow, KY were all transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green by The Medical Center EMS for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Trooper Terry Alexander. He was assisted on the scene by the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and the Smiths Grove Fire Department.
