Death Investigation in Rowletts

(Horse Cave, KY) - On Saturday, June 13, 2015 at approx. 6:55 pm the Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a call at 233 Maple Grove Lane in Rowletts in reference to a female leaving the residence with her children due to the male subject firing a gun inside the residence.
Trooper Justin Roundtree arrived on the scene and was attempting to make contact when the male subject, Jeremy Marth (33) exited the residence through a rear window and began to flee on foot. Trooper Roundtree pursued him through the back yard where Marth produced a handgun, where both Marth and Trooper Roundtree fired a round, at which point Marth was struck in the head.
Marth was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hart County Coroner Reggie Pettit. An autopsy was performed at the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville this morning and according to the preliminary autopsy report it was confirmed that Jeremy Marth died from a single gunshot wound to the head that was consistent to a self-inflicted injury and it was ruled a suicide by the Medical Examiner.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Lt. Brian Whittaker, Lt. Brenton Ford, and Lt. Jamie Heller. No further information is available for release at this time.
