Two Injured In Separate I-65 Accidents

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY.) - Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown and KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement worked two separate injury accidents just North of Elizabethtown on I-65 Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 3:50 P.M. EST, Bradley S. Neal (28) of Upton, Ky was traveling North on I-65 at athe 97 mile marker. For unknown reasons, the 2002 Ford vehicle he was operating ran off the roadway into the righthand shoulder and struck a rock wall causing the vehicle to overturn. Mr. Neal suffered minor injuries and was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by ambulance. A few minutes later while traffic was backing up Northbound another accident occurred. At the 96.5 mile marker, Calvin H. Lake (52) of Smyrna, Tn. Was stopped in his Semi-trailer in the middle lane of I-65. A Semi-trailer operated by Derek Hardin (34) of Brownsville, Ky. was traveling in the same lane Northbound and was unable to stop before striking the rear of Mr. Lake's trailer. Mr. Hardin suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene. Two other Semi-trailers suffered minor damage and no other injuries were reported. KSP and CVE were assisted on the scene by the Hardin Co. EMS, Central Hardin Fire Dept. and AirMethods. The accidents are under investigation by Tpr. Ken Borders and CVE Officer Michael Moritz.
