KSP Investigating Early Morning Fatal Crash in Union County

MORGANFIELD, KY. (June 05, 2016) - Kentucky State Police troopers are investigating an early morning collision that killed one teenager in Union County.
Troopers say the collision occurred just after 2:00 am around the 1500 block of Kentucky 492 outside Morganfield, KY. The preliminary investigation revealed that Maxwell McMain, 19, of Morganfield, KY was operating a 2013 Dodge Durango west on KY 492 . For an unknown reason, McMain lost control of his vehicle and overturned multiple times. McMain and passenger Kaci Wood, 16, of Sebree were not wearing their seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. Wood was pronounced dead at the Union County Hospital a short time after the crash. McMain is at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. listed in stable condition.
Jacob Hood, 20, of Morganfield, KY was also in the vehicle but was not injured. He was utilizing his seatbelt.
Although the investigation is in its early stages, KSP investigators have not ruled out the possibility of speed and/or alcohol as a contributing factor.
A KSP Collision Reconstructionist and KSP detectives were on-scene today investigating and inspecting the vehicle and collision site. The investigation is on-going.
Troopers with the Kentucky State Police; Union County Sheriff's Department; Union County Coroner's Office and Union County EMS assisted at the scene.
