Single Vehicle Injury Collision on US HWY 62 West

Depoy, KY (Muhlenberg County) - The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US HWY 62 West in Depoy, on Tuesday, February 02, 2016, at 09:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Joel E. Elliott Jr., 46, of Central City, KY was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on US HWY 62 West, when it began to hydro plane due to water flowing across the roadway. Mr. Elliot's vehicle exited the roadway where it struck a ditch. The vehicle then crossed a driveway where it then struck a utility pole and came to rest.

Mr. Elliott and his passenger, Claudette Ramsay, 69, of Greenville, were wearing seatbelts. Mr. Elliott and Mrs. Ramsay were transported via ambulance to Baptist Health in Madisonville. Mr. Elliott was treated for his injuries sustained from the collision. Mrs. Ramsay was treated for unrelated health issues.

Trooper Jacob Fortney investigated the collision and was assisted by the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department. The Graham Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
