Pursuit in Webster County Leads to Arrest of Two

Wheatcroft, KY (Webster County) - The Kentucky State Police has charged two men with numerous offenses after a vehicle pursuit.

On Thursday, February 11, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Trooper Cody Kromer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speeding on KY 109 North in Wheatcroft. As Tpr. Kromer exited his cruiser and approached the vehicle, the driver fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit continued for approximately ten miles until the suspect vehicle turned on to KY 132 West where the Webster County Sheriff's Department blocked the road with one of their cruisers. The suspect vehicle then came to a stop in the roadway. The operator exited the vehicle, but would not comply with the officers commands. He was subdued and taken into custody. The passenger was taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries reported.

The operator, Brian A. Perkins, 27, Providence, KY, was charged with the following offenses:

  1. Speeding 26 MPH or > Over the Speed Limit
  2. Reckless Driving
  3. Resisting Arrest
  4. DUI 1st Offense (Aggravating Circumstances)
  5. Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (> or = 2 grams of methamphetamine)
  6. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  7. Fleeing/Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  8. Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  9. Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense

The passenger, Jonathan L. Willett, 21, Morganfield, KY, was charged with the following offenses:

  1. Public Intoxication
  2. Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense
  3. Promoting Contraband 1st Degree

Both subjects were lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.

The Webster County Sheriff's Department assisted the KSP.
