Fatal on Interstate 65 Near Franklin

(Franklin, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a single vehicle injury collision that resulted in a fatal today at approx. 3:41 pm near the 1 mile marker on Interstate 65 in Simpson County.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Phillip Deblock (71) of Flat Rock, Michigan was operating a 2015 GMC SUV and was traveling southbound on I-65 in the right lane when he went off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck several trees.
Mr. Deblock was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Simpson County Coroner Gary Crafton. His wife, Barbara Deblock (69), was transported by the Franklin-Simpson County Ambulance Service to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Trooper First Class Brian Gann. He was assisted on the scene by Sergeants Tucker Carmichael and Chad Winn, Troopers Forrest Winchester and Joe Gregory, Franklin-Simpson Fire and Rescue, Franklin-Simpson County Ambulance Service, and the Simpson County Coroner's Office.
