Injury Collision on Interstate 65 Involving Three Vehicles

Franklin, KY (August 4, 2016) The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a report of an injury collision today at approx. 11:04 am on Interstate 65 at the 2 mile marker southbound in Simpson County involving three vehicles.
The preliminary investigation indicated that traffic had slowed and backed up southbound in Kentucky due to construction work on Interstate 65 in Tennessee. Shina Dean (31) of Bowling Green was operating a 2012 Lexus passenger car in the left lane when she failed to see the slowed traffic and struck the rear of a 2015 Chevrolet SUV being operated by Catherine Turner (68) of Zionsville, IN. After Dean struck the rear of Turner's vehicle she then collided with a 2015 Mercedes passenger car in the center lane that was being operated by Shihchin Chang (46) of Bowling Green.
Ms. Dean was extricated from her vehicle by the Franklin/ Simpson Fire Department where she was then transported by the Franklin/ Simpson EMS to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Turner and her passenger, Robert Turner (76), also of Zionsville, IN was treated at the scene for minor injuries but were not transported by EMS.
Chang was not injured in the collision.
The investigation is still ongoing and being led by Master Trooper Terry Alexander. He was assisted on the scene by the Franklin/ Simpson EMS, Franklin/ Simpson Fire Department, and the Kentucky Department of Transportation Safe Patrol.
