Single-Vehicle Fatality Collision on US 431 in city limits of Beechmont, KY

Beechmont, KY. (February 12, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury collision that resulted in one fatality. The collision occurred in the city limits of Beechmont on US 431 at approximately 1:11 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Shirley P. Baker 75, of Belton, KY was operating a 2007 Toyota passenger car traveling southbound on US 431. For an undetermined reason Mr. Baker’s vehicle, ran off the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a ditch. The vehicle then overturned onto its top in the ditch. Mr. Baker was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries on scene. There were no passengers in Mr. Baker’s vehicle.

Trooper Jim McArthur investigated the collision. Trooper McArthur was assisted on scene by Sergeant Craig Engler, the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, the Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department and the Muhlenberg County Coroner’s Office.
