KSP Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Hopkinsville, KY.(July 12, 2017) – A traffic stop conducted by a Kentucky State Trooper has resulted in the arrest of two males.

At approximately 5:46 P.M., Trooper Daniel Holland and Deputy Mark Nichols conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Ford Focus while patrolling Interstate 24 in Christian County. The vehicle was being operated by Yariel Hernandez, 35 of Hialeah, Florida and Reynaldo Licor, 39 of Colorado Springs, Colorado was a passenger. While conducting the investigation Deputy Nichols K-9 alerted on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was given and 52.6 pounds of marijuana was located in several large canvas bags and a suitcase.

Both occupants were lodged at the Christian County Detention Center on the following charges:

Yariel Hernandez:

  • Following Another Vehicle Too Closely
  • Trafficking in Marijuana (>5 lbs.) 1st offense

Reynaldo Licor:

  • Trafficking in Marijuana (>5 lbs.) 1st offense
