Date of News Release: 9/25/2017

Marion, KY.(September 24, 2017) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle collision that sent the driver to the hospital. The collision occurred at approximately 1:12 p.m., 11 miles east of Marion.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 71 year old Terry Brantley of Marion was traveling south on Nunn Switch Road and stated that he momentarily took his eyes off of the roadway. This caused his front passenger side tire to drop off the right shoulder of the road. Mr. Brantley attempted to regain control of his vehicle and as he was crossing back onto the roadway, he overcorrected. His overcorrection resulted in him losing control of his vehicle and caused it to exit the roadway where he entered into a ditch and collided into a culvert at the intersection of Nunn Switch Road and Guy Thurmond Road.

Mr. Brantley was belted, but still sustained injuries in the collision. He was transported to the Crittenden County Hospital by the Crittenden County EMS.

Trooper Ben Sawyers is investigating the collision and was assisted at the scene by the Crittenden County EMS, Mattoon Volunteer Fire Department and the Crittenden County Sheriff Department.
