Pedestrian Struck by vehicle on US431

Browder, KY (Muhlenberg County) - On January 8th, 2018 at approximately 4:50 P.M. Kentucky State Police received a call stating a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of US HWY 431 and Exit Road near Browder, KY.
Through investigation, Trooper Cornett discovered that Mildred Cole, 38, of Drakesboro, KY, exited a Semi-Tractor and Trailer and attempted to cross both lanes of US HWY 431 when she was struck by a 1999 Dodge pickup.
The operator of the Dodge pickup was 32 year old Edwin Gregory, of Drakesboro, KY. Gregory was traveling northbound on US HWY 431 when he began to overtake the stopped semi-tractor and trailer, which was letting Ms. Cole exit. As Gregory was overtaking the semi in the southbound lane of US HWY 431, he struck Ms. Cole with his vehicle as she was crossing the roadway on foot.
Muhlenberg County EMS transported Ms. Cole to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital to be treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Gregory was arrested on scene for the following charges:
• Driving DUI Suspended License – 1st Offense (Aggravated Circumstances)
• Failure to Produce Insurance Card
• Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 2nd Offense
• Careless Driving
• No Registration Receipt
The Kentucky State Police were assisted on scene by Drakesboro Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department.
