New Commander at Post 12

Date of News Release: 08/01/2005

(Frankfort, KY) - Kentucky State Police Post 12 (Frankfort) welcomes a new Post Commander Captain Tom Porter.

Captain Porter attended the KSP Academy from September 1978 through December 1978. He was assigned as a Trooper to Post 13 Hazard in December 1978.

He was promoted to Sergeant in August 1986 and transferred to Post 9 Pikeville. He was promoted to Lieutenant October 1988 and remained at the Pikeville Post. November 1989 through December 1997 he worked as a Lieutenant at Research and Development Section, Post 12 Frankfort and Inspections/Evaluation.

He was promoted to Captain in April 1998 as commander of Research and Development Section. September 2000 through July 2005 he worked as commander over the Inspections/Evaluation, Forensic Laboratories Section and Property Management/Supply Section. On August 1, 2005, Captain Tom Porter became Commander Post 12 Frankfort. Captain Porter has over 27 years of services to the Kentucky State Police .

Post 12 has geographic responsibility for Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, and Shelby. Spencer, and Woodford counties.
