News Release

Kidnapping, Rape 1st, Assault 1st Investigation in Ohio County

Date of News Release: 11/14/2005

(Henderson, KY) - Charles J. Ryan age 40 was arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Rape 1st, Assault 2nd and lodged in the Ohio County Jail.

On 11-14-2005, around 3:00 a.m. Ryan parked his vehicle and walked to his estranged wife's residence. The victim exited her residence and was assaulted by Ryan. Ryan struck the victim in the head, then attempted to duck tape her and at knifepoint forced her into her vehicle. They drove to Moorman Cemetery Road in Muhlenberg County were Ryan sexually assaulted the victim. After leaving the area, the victim convinced Ryan that the police were waiting for him and asked him to get out of the vehicle. Ryan exited the vehicle and the victim returned to her residence were officers were waiting. The victim was on the phone when the assault was occurring and the subject to whom she was speaking with at the time contacted the police. Ryan was located by Trooper Pagan and taken into custody. The victim was treated by McLean County EMS and then transported to Owensboro Mercy Hospital. The name of the victim is not being released at this time. At the current time we are investigating into the possibility of a firearm that may have been used in this case and left at the Moorman Cemetery location.
