News Release

Five Arrested in Franklin County Shoot Out

Date of News Release: 09/11/2008

(Frankfort, Ky) – On Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2008 at 3:55 PM Kentucky State Police responded to a shots fired complaint in the 3000 block of St. John Road in Northern Franklin County. Investigation revealed that several shots were fired between next door neighbors because of an on going feud. No one was injured.

Troopers from the Frankfort Post arrested Mitchell R. Engler, age 52 and charged him with 3 counts on Wanton Endangerment 1st. Christopher T. Beagle Sr., age 41 was arrested and charged with 9 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st. Both Frankfort residents were lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center. Kentucky State Police confiscated two weapons.

At 6:37 PM Kentucky State Police received a second complaint of shots fired from the same locations early that afternoon. Investigation revealed that a second round of gunfire was exchanged between the same neighbors involving other family members because of there on going feud.

Troopers responded to the second shots fired complaint and arrested Christopher T. Beagle Jr., age 18 and charged him with 12 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st. Anthony R. Engler, age 32, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st. A fifteen-year-old Juvenile was taken into custody and charged with 12 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st. The Juvenile was lodged in the Fayette County Dentition Center. Both adults were lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center. All three are residents of Frankfort. Two of the three were struck by shot gun pellets. No medical treatment needed. Troopers confiscated 8 additional weapons and the investigation ongoing by Post 12 Frankfort.
