News Release

Fatal House Fire in Greenup County

Date of News Release: 02/06/2008

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police is currently working a death investigation case after responding to a residential fire on KY 784 in rural Greenup County. William Stephens, age 84, which was the only occupant in the residence, lost his life as a result of this fire. Firefighters responded to the fire after a family member summonsed assistance upon discovering the fire of the single structure dwelling.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Stephens's body was located between the kitchen and the living room of the residence. No foul play is suspected.

Stephens was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Rick Music. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Shannon Jones and Detective Rodney Carroll.
